World Class Speaking™ Night at Tokyo American Club
SPEAKER: Ms. Melanie Brock, Country Manager, Meat & Livestock of Australia
❝Chance Encounters are Good Business: The Positive Impact of Networking
We are pleased to invite you to our next World Class Speaking™ Night on Wednesday March 27—this time in the great surroundings of the Tokyo American Club!
Ms. Melanie Brock, our main speaker—will almost certainly be one of the most fun and engaging speakers you have heard for some time!
The World Class Speaking Nights are informal and fun events for people interested in improving their speaking, communication and presentation skills—featuring special guest speakers, World Class Speaking alumni, drinks and a dining buffet.
For each participant we will this time make a donation to the NPO Playground of Hope—building new playgrounds for children affected by the Tohoku disaster. There will be an introduction of the NPO by its Project Director, Michael Anop.
Our Keynote Speaker, Melanie Brock, is Regional Manager for Meat & Livestock Australia ('MLA') in Japan. She will tell you about her unique and successful marketing and networking initiatives—launched to promote Australian beef in Japan, since being appointed as Regional Manager in 2010. Main highlights for what you will learn from her presentation:
- How MLA operates its business in Japan
- Why and how networks are good for business
- How MLA is using innovative networking strategies to reach its main audiences
Melanie's key initiatives include a Japanese women networking group, in an industry dominated by men—and a highly innovative co-operative network between Japanese and Australian beef producers. In both cases she brought Japanese members of these networks on business and knowledge exchange visits to Australia—overcoming resistance both on the Japanese and Australian side in the process.
Afther the March 2011 Tohoku tsunami and earthuake, MLA launched its Together with Japan programme—providing support to Japanese beef producers and others in Tohoku.
Melanie has lived in Japan for almost 20 years and speaks fluent Japanese—and has long experience in food marketing and close links with the Japanese business community. She is also currently Chair of the Australian & New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan. In 2011 she was listed among the top 50 women business leaders in Australia.
The formal part of theprogram will be rounded off by a brief introduction of the NPO Playground of Hope, by its Project Director Michael Anop. Playground of Hope recently completed its 10th playground installation—marking another milestone for the NPO.
